The Quetico Superior Foundation has a long-held tradition of objective and balanced reporting on the issues that face the lakes country of the MN and Ontario border. From reporting on the Boundary Waters Blowdown of 1999, to new threats of invasive species, Wilderness News seeks to involve scientists, educators, writers, non-profits, advocates, photographers, and all who are concerned with the Quetico Superior eco-region in a quarterly newsletter that reaches readers across the globe.
E&A has enjoyed a long relationship with the QSF, among our collaborations – the newsletter redesign in 2001. In 2009, we embarked on extending this highly successful newsletter to the web, in ‘blog’ format, to satisfy two critical needs: report on wilderness issues on a more timely basis, and reach out to new audiences. Also paramount to the QSF: maintaining their high standard of balanced reporting, with inspirational imagery and community focus, in an online format. Our solution is both expressed in the look and feel of Wilderness News Online, and in its editorial direction – E&A provides both ongoing graphic support for the newsletter, and writing expertise. We are excited to help the foundation grow its audience, and are happy to say that things are looking good, after two full months of “blogging”, Wilderness News Online traffic and Facebook fanbase is growing!
